All that comes to mind are isolated cases, e.g. there is a version of Knocking On Heavens Door sung by a woman that is not following the original, but based on it. Owledge Posted March 6, 2013 (edited) I've watched a few episodes now. The storywriting and the 'universe lore design' is a bit lazy and simplistic, but the ponies' behavior is very funny. Â "Swarm of the Century" is apparently a hommage to the Star Trek tribble episode(s) and also inspired by the Pied Piper of Hamelin. (That episode's ending is another example of bad writing.) I don't really grasp what he's doing with the buttons - it seems like more complex than just restarting tracks. But the whole thing is enjoyable. What I mean with abridging though is not what DJs do. DJs usually stretch music and add 'foreign' music styles more suited for a certain clientele. I guess what I am imagining is something that to my knowledge hasn't been explored yet: the certain something that makes music awesome. There must be a science behind why certain tunes/songs make it into the charts. (Not the best measure, but still.) And I'm an audiocentric guy I guess. I hear a tune and then at some point might go like: Awwww, why did they continue THAT way? It was just about to become really awesome, touching. I'm not good at making things from scratch, but once I get a trigger, an intro, I can let it flow. I wish I had a sound studio and a cool team available at all times. But we can't always get what we want, right? And besides: Forcing things destroys the flow. Â Â Back to ponies: I have another question: Did anybody do a personality/visuals (at first I wrote "viausl", lol - talk about mixup) mixup of the six mane ponies? That's always hilarious. Imagine: Apple Pie, Rainbow Rare, Twilight Jack, Pinkie Dash, Rainbow Flutter. Or go fully bonkers: Pinkie Shy and her confused friend Twilight Flutter, lesbian pals Apple Dash & Rainbow Jack, and the unbearable Rarity Rare. OOOOOR ... give all ponies the Pinkie factor, except Pinkie Pie, who gets the traits from all the other five. Hmmm., let's see, that would be: Pinkie Sparkle, Flutterpie, Rare Pinkie, Pink Apple, Rainbow Pie and Rare Twilight Rainbow Flutter Jack. Did I mention any combo twice? I don't think so! Â Â OOOH MYYYYY! We need MLP smileys!!! Gonna dig some up. Brb. EDIT: They have no Pinkie grin smiley at the internet. I'm disappointed! Â EDIT2: HAH! Made my owln! Â Â P.S.: I wish I knew how to make smooth resize of a selection in PSP without the edges smooting into the transparent color. Owledge Posted March 9, 2013 Season 1 episode 21 - "Over A Barrel" is one of those twistings of history, regarding Native Americans. By now I realize that while it doesn't make much sense, Equestria is like a modern time nation. There is France (Fluttershy mentioning French haute couture), and ponies with German accent and all. Makes it less of a stretch of imagination why New Lunar Republic fan fiction came about. Â I mean, tha episode makes the Natives look like intolerant and irrational. Not only did they want the orchard gone for their traditional stampeding instead of because it's a burial ground (which would have been according to reality), but in the end it turns out there a wide path through the orchard, so they can stampede freely through it without causing any harm. But now they also charge a fee (apple pie) in exchange for peace. The chief talked about his ancestors, so the theme of death can't be a taboo in the show, thus burial ground would be an appropriate reason. I guess it's still just too difficult for the average US American to digest the reality that the colonizing was to an increasing degree militant landgrab. Â Then there's so much translation to pony theme that doesn't make sense. They have steam locomotives, but they are pulled by ponies. Whuaaa? Why not without the ponies? After all Equestria has electricity and stuff - quite modern. The degree of lazy writing in that regards is comparable to the "The Little Mermaid" TV show, where you have things like hot bath tubs ... underwater. With the hot water staying in the tub ... just like if they weren't undersea... which they are. Â So as I said before: brain on standby, then it's great fun.
